Home Care of Rochester Benefits from Grants, Training


Home Care of Rochester (HCR) received multiple grants it used in training which has helped improve productivity at the 30 year old home health agency.

HCR has been awarded more than $41,000 in various grant funding initiatives with the help of RochesterWorks!, which assisted on grant applications.

“The grant funding has helped HCR train and develop staff to acquire specific skill sets to make us more competitive and provide better quality care,” says Rui Ventura, HR Manager at HCR.

“The funding has helped offset some of the costs associated with lost productivity as well as payroll costs incurred while in training,” he adds.

The training has helped HCR employees acquire unique certifications that help advance their expertise within their respective fields. In other cases, the training has helped them acquire new skill sets to help elevate their performance within the organization.

“In all cases, our employees have been able to enjoy valuable learning experiences and were able to immediately apply their new knowledge in the workplace,” Ventura says.

HCR has been working with RochesterWorks! for more than four years in a number of other capacities.

HCR has participated in job fairs at RochesterWorks!’ Goodman Street Career Center and has worked with its career counselors, says Christina Bakewicz, Business Services Manager for RochesterWorks!

Additionally RochesterWorks! has worked with prospective applicants and new job entrants for the Rochester company, she says.

Ventura credits RochesterWorks! with providing a valuable resource in giving employers direct access to individuals seeking gainful employment.
